MeetUp and Collaboration

Back in 2014 when I took my first Intentional Creativity® classes with local teachers, one recent graduate, Heidi Sequoiah Moondancer, had begun promoting her classes on MeetUp

She gave us the link to her group during our September class, and commented that inspiration for her next offering often came during a class, so she'd choose a date and post it right away! I went with my friend Nancy, who encouraged me to take Color of Woman, "so I won't have to drive to Salem for classes!"

I joined Heidi's group, and took another class in the spring, between painting Legend and the beginning of Color of Woman. (I slipped and broke my arm right after that, but that's another story!!)

With Heidi at grad 2015

In the spring, I met her SiStar graduate Lora, who lived in Sherwood 45 minutes North of me.  Lora mentioned she was teaching a class to paint your Mermaid - ooo! I asked if I could audit it, and she asked, "why don't you co teach?"

So I did!

I was 2 months into CoW, and we only had a couple of students, which was perfect! Lora also had a MeetUp group, and since you can have 3 under the same subscription, had begun the PNW Women's Intentional Creativity group, where she and Heidi cross posted their events. She invited me to join as well, and post my own events!  I began my own (McMinnville Women's IC) and cross post my events.

When Lora moved out of the area, she turned the PNW group over to me, and we now have over 1100 members.

Our group description reads:

"We are a tribe of women who meet to access our own internal guidance system through Intentional Creativity®, a process which incorporates journaling, visioning and painting to help us each develop a deeper sense of self awareness. All event hosts are graduates of Color of Woman, or students in this year's teacher training, and certified to teach IC by visionary artist and founder Shiloh Sophia. We each bring our personal medicine basket of practices and experiences; our gatherings and offerings reflect that."

My personal bio:

What do you hope to get from this meet up?

I wish to cross paths with others on the journey, and perhaps travel together for a bit.

Introduction

I'm Nadya, Visionary Artist, Harper, Mindful Creativity Teacher, Coach, Sound healer, Reiki Master and Lïghtweaver. I cherish being in community. I AM one who reaches into the field of dreams Star Dancer · Song Weaver

Over the last 7 years, my experiences have been good! A number of local women interested in creativity and/or IC have discovered my offerings through MeetUp, several gals join prior to moving to the area, while others have driven 2-3 hours because I was 'closer than Shiloh!'

I post event address when it's a public space. Not all who sign up will attend, Heidi often offered a discount for paying a deposit, or registering early. Check our past events for ideas!

I post my monthly circle as an ongoing event, and edit "only this event" when I add the specific title, photo and details.

I also cross post in an nearby "energy consciousness and community" group, with the basic info and "contact me" to attend. You don't need an individual group to post there, so check and see what's available in your area! It's in another town, soI don't often get attendees, but have at times.

Last spring, I pivoted to host my monthly circles via Zoom, with Linda Allen as co-host, and decided to offer 2 circles monthly. Linda has the professional zoom account, and I plan for the MeetUp. We have hosted several IC student events in our circles, and they are welcome to continue posting in our group.

MeetUp has been a good way for us to connect with beloveds, and for them to track our offerings!

SOULWork

The invitation reads: " Your SOULWork Project is a culminating presentation exploring Intentional Creativity as applied to a personal interest. Plan to take 6-8 hours taking your interest to the 'next level.' Document in the way that makes sense: writing, link to a hosted URL, etc." How do we make that connection between a personal interest and IC? A good place to begin is to pull out your journal, your Medicine Basket, and  draw a couple of Story Cards.  Sit with your paintings, and inquire,  What are some of my Personal Interests and how do they dovetail with IC?  How can I serve MY beloveds and my Soul Purpose?  Perhaps do a Metacognitive Drawing around the inquiry.  I originally wrote about my SOULWork from the perspective of being a Grandmother, and using it to support my grandchildren. While that's been a part of work since the beginning, when my 4 year old grandkids added strokes (invited!) to my CoW paintings, I realize that another thread is my off...

That Risky Glaze

Beloveds who are new to our painting community are often a bit nervous  (shakin' in our boots!)  when it's time to do the first glaze! And why not? We're got several layers on the canvas, we may really like what's there -  and now you want me to cover it up??  Ugh! How do we best explain and share the process with these new beloveds? When I took my very first  Muse class  in 2014, I was having a good time with ceremony, visioning, painting and journaling, ... Then Elisabeth told us we were going to paint over our canvas with a  Risky Glaze  - ¿paint over? ¿glaze? Yikes!!  So how do we glaze and why? Applying a glaze, a thin layer of translucent paint, is a great way to integrate what has gone before, and is a key component of our process with Intentional Creativity® It is also a simple way to add  Mothercolour , which brings harmony to the whole painting. 13 Step Prompt Cards

When I began teaching IC classes, I had a notebook with the 13 steps, and my ideas  for that particular class. It was kind of cumbersome, and I sometimes got lost ... So I made a flow chart, moving from step to step - then hit on making prompt cards!  Viola! Much easier!  13 Step Prompt Cards - 2×2" You can make a set of prompt cards for Red Thread circles, as well, and can adapt the process for  any  class you're offering, it's very adaptable for your needs.  Here is the little  video tutorial  IC teacher Sepha Nesbit and I created for the Color of Woman class of 2018.  Materials 140# watercolor paper (can be from a pad) 13 step overview (or other class process you'd like cards for) Watercolors or acrylics, Neocolor 2 crayons, Inktense pencils Calligraphy pen, markers, sharpie Brushes and water container, aqua brush Binder ring and hole punch (optional) Preparation Spend some time with each step and sketch out ideas Symbols and images ...
