13 Step Prompt Cards

When I began teaching IC classes, I had a notebook with the 13 steps, and my ideas  for that particular class. It was kind of cumbersome, and I sometimes got lost ... So I made a flow chart, moving from step to step - then hit on making prompt cards!  Viola! Much easier!  13 Step Prompt Cards - 2×2" You can make a set of prompt cards for Red Thread circles, as well, and can adapt the process for  any  class you're offering, it's very adaptable for your needs.  Here is the little  video tutorial  IC teacher Sepha Nesbit and I created for the Color of Woman class of 2018.  Materials 140# watercolor paper (can be from a pad) 13 step overview (or other class process you'd like cards for) Watercolors or acrylics, Neocolor 2 crayons, Inktense pencils Calligraphy pen, markers, sharpie Brushes and water container, aqua brush Binder ring and hole punch (optional) Preparation Spend some time with each step and sketch out ideas Symbols and images ...

Class Supplies

My friend Sepha had been teaching Paint Night parties, so gave me tips for setting up (and participated in) my first Intentional Creativity® class. She went on to enroll in CoW 2016, and we taught many classes together until she took to the road as a campground host!  Last year I've been teaching online, but looking foward to resuming traveling paint classes. Here are some of the supplies I've gathered. Sepha At the Canvas A bucket and pitchers for water - so helpful in a room without a water source! You bring water in the bucket (s), fill the pitchers, then water cups & spritz bottles. Students can dump dirty water in the bucket periodically, & refill their paint jars. At the end of class, you simply dump the bucket(s). Towels or Microfibre cloths for cleaning up spills - squeeze into the bucket. A roll of paper towels. Inexpensive plastic tablecloths (Dollar Store) on the tables, & be sure to wipe dry after use, so they don't get musty in storage.  We've a...

Calling council

Muses each have their own energy and timing, their own interests, inquiries and inspiration. Shiloh Sophia, the founder of our Intentional Creativity® community, has provided a wonderful format for inviting our  Muses to flourish, and encourage us to shine in our own special ways! Since painting my first Muse Gabriella in 2014, I've danced between painting, journaling, creating cards and codxes and being in conversation with my paintings. Sometimes when I'm at a crossroads, or at the turn of a season, I call council with some of my ladies!  You might wish to bring out your Legendary Lady, and Muse, and any other recent paintings, plus your notes about them, and the intention you wrote on the canvases, and call council. Pour a cup of tea and sit with your journal and your ladies.  Put on some music, perhaps what you painted to, or something you currently love. What messages and insights do your ladies carry for you? Do they have suggestions for how to proceed? W...

That Risky Glaze

Beloveds who are new to our painting community are often a bit nervous  (shakin' in our boots!)  when it's time to do the first glaze! And why not? We're got several layers on the canvas, we may really like what's there -  and now you want me to cover it up??  Ugh! How do we best explain and share the process with these new beloveds? When I took my very first  Muse class  in 2014, I was having a good time with ceremony, visioning, painting and journaling, ... Then Elisabeth told us we were going to paint over our canvas with a  Risky Glaze  - ¿paint over? ¿glaze? Yikes!!  So how do we glaze and why? Applying a glaze, a thin layer of translucent paint, is a great way to integrate what has gone before, and is a key component of our process with Intentional Creativity® It is also a simple way to add  Mothercolour , which brings harmony to the whole painting. APOTHECARY - glaze and biophotons Supplies : Spray bottle, adjusted to mist ...

I've got a plan!

Organizing our projects,  ToDos and ideas can be challenging as we move through Color of Woman, and claim out Artist hats. Last April, during our  Artist in Residence 2020 , Shiloh Sophia and her own business coach Amy Ahlers offered a creativity based business class called Dancing Entrepreneur for CoW students, graduates, and women entrepreneurs. While most gals were from our Intentional creativity community, several other creatives joined us. A couple of posts which really caught my eye were of  Karen Dawn 's  Visual Planning system , and I joined her Beta Test group for crafting similar systems of our own!  I love Karen's creative approach to planning! Her  blog  includes some of these teachings! Visual Planning Board My first visual planner is on a foam board left over from a vision board class, and holds my Medicine Basket, an action card from Dancing Entrepreneur, and other cards in pockets.  Who doesn't love these little pockets? The...

Story Card Teaching Kit

Creating cards is one of my favorite, quick intentional creativity processes! We create cards several times each year in our Red Thread Circles , and make several using simple materials in our 90 minute sessions. I quickly realized if I saved some of my old story process papers, I didn't need to reinvent the wheel each time I offered a story card session! I found a plastic index card file at the Dollar Store that is perfect for my Story Card kit. Process papers and kit My kit contains: Some of my competed story cards Blank cards, with a simple wash background Process papers with the old story on one side, antidote on the other - scribbles, cross outs and all Blank index cards and colorful paper for processing old stories A length of Red Thread Notes for teaching Having examples of several old stories and antidotes streamlines the process. I remember struggling to think of some during that first class! Looking back at my first cards, I discovered some address the same story, and...
